Foodjob Nordic is looking for a Business Development Manager for SimHerd.
SimHerd A/S creates value for farmers through credible, research-based decision support tools. The SimHerd model is a simulation tool for herd management originally developed by Aarhus University. The tool has been commercialized and today it is used by a wide range of stakeholders in the industry. The company SimHerd A/S is owned by VikingDanmark, Aarhus University and the two founders, who are still active in the company.
The name SimHerd is well known and acknowledged in the market and the company has an ambition to expand the market reach and further realize the potential of the product.

POSITION
The customers of SimHerd A/S are mainly companies delivering technological or knowledge-based solutions to the farmers; e.g. herd advise, genetics, sensor technology, pharmaceutical solutions, feed additives, dairy and meat processers. With reference to the Managing Director you will spearhead the marketing and sales of SimHerd towards these customers. The sales process is complex and has many stages and therefore the role has many facets and requires a good understanding of the value chain and the needs of the different stakeholders.
Some general elements of the function will be:
- Visiting mainly new but also existing customers on a regular basis
- Monitoring, forecasting and reporting on the market
- Manage customer issue resolutions and recommend preventive actions to minimize future incidents
- Negotiation and deal closing with customers
- Representing SimHerd at industry events such as fairs and conferences
- Keeping up to date with the development in the industry, the technology development and the players in the industry
Being part of the team at SimHerd you will be working closely together with some very well qualified professionals who will all be part of the deliveries to the customers.
The position can be based at the SimHerd office in Agro Business Park in Tjele or at the VikingDanmark office in Agro Food Park in Aarhus. Some international travelling
activity in relation to visiting customers and attending industry events should be expected.
YOUR PROFILE
SimHerd is a science based decision tool adapted to the current standards and while you can learn the technicalities of the system, we believe that it is important for success that you are already familiar with how the industry works and the conditions for the farmers as well as the technology and service providers. Most likely you have got a relevant educational background as veterinarian, agronomist or the like combined with a solid experience in a commercial role as advisor/consultant or account manager. Experience handling larger customers in the agro industry is a definite advantage. So is international experience.Your sales toolbox is well developed and you possess a good understanding of sales processes from strategy to execution. You can relate to handling the longer lead times involved in solution selling, and you know how to build a pipeline that stabilizes the sales forecast and the workload.
Working with data and professional usage of MS-Office and other IT tools is natural to you, and you possess excellent communications skills in English - both verbally and in writing.
As a person you have an entrepreneurial spirit and can-do mentality combined with a structured approach and a team orientation.
