Dawn Foods Europe & AMEAP employs some 850 people and covers the activities in Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific. The product range comprises a.o. pastry mixes, fruit fillings, glazes, flavourings and frozen products, like muffins, brownies and cakes. These products are sold to artisanal bakeries, industrial bakeries, retailers and food service customers. The European head office is based in Amstelveen (NL), with central functions for Marketing & New Product Development, Operations & Supply Chain, Finance and HR. For the Marketing & NPD team we are currently searching for a proactive Category Manager Europe & AMEAP.


Amstelveen / Niederlande


  • Responsible for the performance and growth of one of the product categories (to be further assigned) for the region Europe & AMEAP (Africa, Middle East, Asia Pacific)
  • Composing and implementing the category plan in line with the business strategy
  • Managing the product & brand portfolio, by optimising and rationalising existing products and by introducing and implementing new product innovations
  • Supporting the international sales organisation by joining customer visits and making proactive plans for key accounts
  • Monitoring and improving the profitability of the product category
  • Ensuring effective communication with respect to specifications, features & benefits and market competitive positioning
  • Activating new initiatives for further development and growth of the product category
  • Working closely together with regional and local Marketing & Sales colleagues and other functional disciplines like R&D, Supply Chain and Finance
  • Reporting to the VP Marketing and NPD for Europe & AMEAP


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, for example in Economics, Business Science or Technology
  • Relevant work experience in international marketing of food products, preferably covering both FMCG marketing and B2B marketing
  • Good understanding and financial awareness of the total value chain, from procurement towards sales of ingredient mixes and final products
  • Strong cross functional and project management skills and a can-do mentality to realise a multitude of projects within set targets and time frames
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, in an international business environment, requiring regular travelling (30-40%)
  • Personal skills: helicopter view, customer focus, building trust, results driven, action oriented, courage and adaptability
